JALTARANGAM (ANCIENT INDIAN INSTRUMENT)

Madipadiga Rajender, S/o Madipadiga Narasimha Chary from Hyderabad, Telangana, India, has set a tremendous record by performing on the Jaltarangam. The Jaltarangam is an ancient Indian melodic percussion instrument used in both Hindustani and Carnatic classical music traditions. It consists of ceramic or metal bowls arranged in a semicircle, each filled with varying levels of water to produce specific musical notes. A greater quantity of water produces lower notes, while a lesser quantity of water produces higher notes. The performer gently strikes the rims of the bowls using wooden sticks to create soft, bell-like sounds. The Jaltarangam is considered one of the rarest and most unique classical instruments in India today.
